Clermont Introduces Virtual Participation for City Council Meetings

The City of Clermont has announced that residents now have multiple ways to participate in City Council meetings, expanding access beyond traditional in-person attendance. Community members can now join meetings in person, online via Microsoft Teams, or by phone, allowing more flexibility for those who wish to stay informed and engaged.
This update comes at a time when many residents have expressed that the new 3 PM meeting time makes it difficult to attend in person. The virtual option is intended to give more people the opportunity to follow discussions and provide input on local matters, regardless of their schedule.
How Online Participation Works: Residents can join through Microsoft Teams using a web link provided by the City, with no app download required. Participants may raise their hand within the platform during public comment on any agenda item. When called on, they will be asked to unmute and provide their name and address for the record, similar to in-person procedures. Each speaker is given up to three minutes to comment.
How Phone Participation Works:
Those joining by phone can use the dial-in number and meeting ID listed on the City’s website. Callers may raise their hand by pressing *5, and unmute when called on by pressing *6. The same three-minute time limit and identification rules apply.
This added accessibility allows residents to take part in discussions, stay up to date on city decisions, and provide feedback even if they cannot attend physically.
